Overview

Known for its beauty, great acclimatization, and classic Kilimanjaro experience. Best For: Fit trekkers looking for a balanced mix of challenge and scenery.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival in Moshi

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to your hotel in Moshi. Meet your AMSI guide for a detailed briefing, equipment check, and preparation for the climb.

Day 2: Machame Gate (1,800 m) to Machame Camp (3,000 m)

After registration at the park gate, begin trekking through lush rainforest filled with monkeys and exotic birds. The trail gradually climbs to Machame Camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Machame Camp to Shira Camp (3,840 m)

Leave the forest behind and ascend through heather and moorland. Enjoy spectacular views of the Shira Plateau and Mount Meru in the distance before reaching Shira Camp.

Day 4: Shira to Lava Tower (4,630 m) to Barranco Camp (3,950 m)

A long acclimatization day. Climb high to Lava Tower for lunch, then descend to Barranco Camp for rest. This “climb high, sleep low” day is key to successful acclimatization.

Day 5: Barranco to Karanga Camp (3,960 m)

Start the day by scaling the Barranco Wall, an exciting scramble with rewarding views. Trek through alpine desert to Karanga Camp, where you’ll rest and refuel.

Day 6: Karanga to Barafu Camp (4,673 m)

Continue to Barafu, the base camp for your summit attempt. Rest early, have an early dinner, and prepare your gear for the midnight climb to the summit.

Day 7: Summit Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) to Mweka Camp (3,100 m)

Begin the final ascent around midnight, reaching Stella Point at sunrise and Uhuru Peak shortly after. Celebrate your success, then descend to Mweka Camp for a well-earned rest.

Day 8: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate to Moshi

Begin the final ascent around midnight, reaching Stella Point at sunrise and Uhuru Peak shortly after. Celebrate your success, then descend to Mweka Camp for a well-earned rest.
