AMSI Trekking Tours | Lemosho Route

Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival in Moshi

Meet your AMSI team for briefing, gear check, and trip orientation. Overnight at a hotel in Moshi.

Day 2: Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,650 m)

Drive to the western gate and trek through pristine rainforest, spotting colobus monkeys along the way. Arrive at Mti Mkubwa Camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Mti Mkubwa to Shira 1 Camp (3,500 m)

The trail ascends out of the forest into moorland. Enjoy panoramic views as you reach the Shira Plateau, one of Kilimanjaro’s most beautiful areas.

Day 4: Shira 1 to Shira 2 to Moir Hut (4,200 m)

Explore the Shira Plateau, a vast expanse of volcanic rock and grassy ridges. The gentle ascent provides excellent acclimatization and stunning photo opportunities..

Day 5: Moir Hut to Lava Tower (4,630 m) to Barranco Camp (3,950 m)

Climb high to Lava Tower for lunch, then descend into the lush Barranco Valley. This key acclimatization day helps your body adjust to the altitude.

Day 6: Barranco to Karanga Camp (3,960 m)

Tackle the Barranco Wall, then traverse ridges and valleys to reach Karanga Camp. The afternoon is for rest and enjoying the view of the summit ahead.

Day 7: Karanga to Barafu Camp (4,673 m)

A short, steady climb leads to Barafu Camp. Rest, hydrate, and prepare mentally for your summit night.

Day 8: Summit Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) to Mweka Camp (3,100 m)

Start around midnight for the final push to the summit. Watch the sunrise from Africa’s highest point, then descend to Mweka Camp.

Day 9: Mweka → Moshi

Complete your descent through the forest, collect your certificate, and celebrate your successful climb with your AMSI team.
